  • Is NUO vegan?

    Yes

  • How can you apply NUO?

    All common DIY solutions are feasible. Textiles can be easily bonded. For example with white glue or contact adhesive. For liquid systems, a second textile is recommended to prevent glue penetration. Depending on requirements and loads, it is recommended to make tests. Industrial bonding can be carried out with common systems such as hotmelt or adhesive films.

  • Which surface treatments are possible?

    NUO can be painted and treated with oil (depending on the application). From an order quantity of 300 sqm we are pleased to offer you a lacquering as an option.

  • Can NUO be dyed?

    Yes, NUO can be dyed with ordinary wood colours. With roller or spray application. From an order quantity of 300 sqm we are happy to offer this service as an option.

  • Can NUO be sewn?

    Possible with needle tips LR and R. For double fabric we recommended needle R.

  • What buckling radii does the material allow?

    Radii below 0.5 cm are not recommended.

  • Can samples be ordered?

    Hand sample available in 8-12cm. Larger formats on request and for a fee. For prototyping please contact one of our sales representatives.

  • Can I order NUO as a private customer?

    Yes, from a sheet measuring 125 x 62 cm.

  • What is the best method of storage, the best humidity percentage & temperature?

    Ideal is 45 – 55% r.H. with 18 – 20°C

  • What is the recommendation regarding hot pressing for NUO?

    Hot pressing is possible. Temperatures above 120°C are critical regarding the colour and the clue line

  • Can NUO be sanded as a regular veneer, both manually or by a wide belt sander?

    No, sanding is not possible

  • Can wood vanished such as NC, PU, or acrylic sealers and lacquers be applied?

    A wide range of vanish products are possible. The applied quantity is critical. If you use to much vanish you lose the flexibility. We use just 60 g/m²

  • After applying the veneer, will NUO crack, split, come out or move depending on weather and temperature?

    NUO is not resistant for a permanent outdoor use.

  • Is NUO considered, rated or certified as Acoustic product?

    It works but we do not have any certifications yet. The value depends on the corresponding absorber plate.

  • How to clean NUO?

    Various kinds of spots can be carefully dabbed off with a damp cloth and cleaning agent (1% cleaning solution, e.g. Prill). Aggressive cleaning agents such as acetic acid should be avoided. 

  • The chemical resistance of NUO with a varnished surface performed significantly better based on test standard TL 226

    NUO with a varnished surface performed significantly better in the drop test based on test standard TL 226 - Tab. 3 - 6.2 compared to the untreated product.

  • Is there any test report for the resistance of NUO?

    Yes, a drop test with visual evaluation according to test standard TL 226 – table 3 - 6.2 was carried out with various household products, including wine, mustard, water, coffee, oil and others.

  • Which fluids were tested on NUO?

    Acetone, caustic potash 10%, vinegar 5%, ammonia 25%, water, mustard, ethanol 48%, coffee 3% (instant), Ajax 1:5, Nivea sun cream LF30, Nivea cream (blue can), Coca Cola, lactic acid 10%, super gasoline, apple vinegar, brake fluid DOT4, engine oil 15W40, phosphoric acid 5%, isopropanol, rapeseed oil, red wine.

  • Can NUO be heated or processed under the influence of temperature?

    Yes, NUO can be processed without problems up to a temperature of 90°. For higher processing temperatures, please contact the application technology department of NUO GmbH.
